Welcome to Coochiemudlo Island Surf Life Saving Club
Coochiemudlo Island S.L.S.C is your friendly, family-focused lifesaving crew on Coochie’s Main Beach. We keep our little slice of paradise safe on weekends and public holidays, and we grow the next generation of lifesavers through our Sunday Nippers program (September–April).
What we do
Keep the beach safe
Volunteer patrols, first aid and preventative actions on busy days and holidays.
Run Nippers
A fun, skills-based program for kids aged 5–13 to learn ocean awareness, confidence, teamwork and respect for the environment.
Build community
Training, events, BBQs, fundraising and plenty of smiles under the red and yellow tents.
Roles for everyone (yes, you!)
- Only ~5 hours a month: One rostered patrol can make a huge difference on a small island.
- No need to get in the water: Help as an Observer, First Aid responder, Radio Operator, or in admin, BBQs and fundraising.
- Love the water? Train as SRC (13+) or Bronze (15+) and join a patrol team; build skills on boards, with rescue tubes, or in the IRB.
- Opportunities beyond the beach: Officiate at carnivals, coach juniors, or step into leadership.
- Wear the red & yellow with pride: It stands for courage, commitment and community spirit.
Visit us
We’re on Main Beach, right by the ferry jetty. It’s just a 10-minute hop from Victoria Point with frequent services, seven days a week.
